Question: European travel?
alright. I'm 17 years old and next summer I'm going to be taking a two month trip to Europe that I have been planning for the last two years. Now here are the countries I am thinking of visiting in order of necessity to visit. Ya know to see family and buddies

1. Germany
2. Spain
3. Romania
4. UK
5.France
6. Holland
7. Switzerland
8. Greece
9. Turkey
10. Russia

Now I have all of these countries included except for Russia. I need Ideas for the best country to start in, and the best to end in. Also need info on any festivals going on in these countries. Plus ideas of where to go in each country, and what to do. Tell me what I need to do, and what I need to miss. Any info would be much appreciated.

Answer: Wow that's quite a trip you are planning. Hmmm i strongly recommend you to take Interrail tickets which enable you to drive with trains in certain areas of Europe unlimited (for 2,3 weeks depends). Get more infos on http://www.interrail.net/ . This will also help you to plan your trip, going from one region to another.

Hostels in Europe are mostly pretty cheap and clean but its important that you make reservations before. (Especially if you travel in summer, at hight of tourist season). Hostels are full of young travelers like you, so you might meet you travel buddies.

Question: What's your favourite european travel guidebook and why?
What's your favourite european travel guidebook and why?
and the cost in the market today? In euro?

There's too many that I can't make up my mind!

Another question: Will there be a big difference in a a travel guide book I bought in 2003 and the newer version that I bought today?

Answer: I find that if you're going to be in a country for a while then Lonely Planet Guides are the best. Up to date ones are obviously more useful because restaurants, hotels or attractions will change over time. They're also useful for jobs and local customs that will stop you getting into trouble.

Question: How do I go about purchasing a SIM card in the US for use in international European travel?
I'm going to be traveling to Europe in a couple weeks, and I'm trying to get cell phone service while I'm there. I've got my hands on an unlocked GSM phone, but I'm curious how I go about purchasing a SIM card for use in international travel. I know that you can buy SIM cards for one country at a time, but can you buy a SIM card that will work in multiple countries? Are there any companies in the US that sell these SIM cards so that I could buy one before I travel? Thanks!

Answer: Actually, torskie is somewhat correct. you will need an unlocked QUADBAND GSM phone. Quadband allows you to use it anywhere in the world.

But wrong about that you only need the phone. You do need a prepaid SIM card. And it's only possible to buy a SIM card for multiple countries IF that service is availble in that country. I'm posting a link at the bottom that lists a SIM card that will work in multiple countries; I hope this helps you.

Question: What is the best way to travel in European countries?
I want to travel to European countries. As there are many countries in this region for travelling, I want to discover slowly one by one. Any suggestion for me to enjoy travelling ? Appreciated if any.

Answer: Europe contains MANY countries........
I know to there are walks you can do. A friend of mine did a walk around the Black forest region, just walking through various villages etc. There is also one you can do on the Italian coast...I can't quite remeber the name, but it has sometihng to do with 5 villages (cinqa...something) and this has also been recommended to me.

Trains and buses are frequent and good ways to get from A to B, otherwise there are a multitude of airlines, if you want ot skip through anyplaces.. There is a site below I recommend that has many airlines included in it. There is also a couple of bus companies, with options for using the bus to get around.

Question: Are there any activity books available for kindergarteners which focus on European travel?
I am traveling with my family this year to France and the UK, and my 5 year old nephew will be missing two weeks of kindergarten for this trip. Aside from general reading, phonics, and counting activity books which we are bringing on this trip for him, are there any educational resources I can find which would enhance this unique experience for him.

Answer: I don't know of any actual books, but i would be almost sure that upon arrival many gift shops will have activity and coloring books that have to do with their culture.
Here's a book but isn't just about the UK. :http://www.gradeexpectations.com/

Also, my nephew (3) and I visit this site sometimes for the picture books:http://www.childrenslibrary.org/
If you're bringing a computer with you, you could let him read/watch books while in the motel room.

Question: How do air miles work? What is the best card for a Canadian wanting European travel?

Answer: Well I found out after saving for years that airmiles aren't really worth it with all the fees you have to pay to redeem them. Having an Airmiles Westjet master card I did get lots of free westjet flights though (actually free). For travel to Europe you will be better off trying to save Aeroplan miles because it is linked to many major airlines. The thing is they don't have that many sponsers. Most of the real rewards plans are designed for people who actually fly a lot. I used to fly through Europe and the Middle East a lot for work and you sure collect a lot that way but most people jsut used them for upgrades. I think if you have an Aeroplan credit card linked to your aeroplan number they would add up fast.

Question: Can you travel from germany to other European countries wih a US Refugee travel document?
I am planning a Eurotrip this xmas and wondering if I can use my Refugee Travel Document to travel from one European country to another. Thanks!

Answer: No you can not travel to Europe with a US refugee travel document. You would have to have a passport. Just having a refugee document won't be enough. No European country will accept this document.

Question: How can i go to the USA (Orlando preferably) by sea travel from the UK, or from any European country?
It must be by sea, even if i have to travel to another european country by a different mean of transport.

Answer: I think if you want to go to Florida there are many cruise ships that go for example to Ft. Lauderdale, but not to Orlando (inland)
Try a travel agent I think would be the best bet. Orlando is easily accessible by road from there.
Dont forget the Sun cream

Question: What are the best transport options to travel between european countries?
I'm planning to travel to europe in April 2009. I would like to know what are the best options for me to travel from London->Amsterdam->Copenhagen->Munich->S... Which route is best by air and which are best by land/sea? I only have 6 weeks to travel to the cities I have mentioned above, so basically 1 week in each destination.

Answer: As an addition to Becca's good answer, there is also the option of the bus/coach.

If you will stay about a week in each destination you are likely not cheaper off with a rail pass.
For cheap rail tickets, 3 months or 2 months before travel the best deals can be had.
One of the most useful sites for train travel with Germany involved is:
http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml The rail planner for Germany. They also sell tickets.

For cheap flights you can use many different sites. I normally use one of the general sites to find which company offers the best deal and then search for a direct link to that company:
