Question: European trip advice/tips!!?
My fiancé and I are currently living in England while he goes to university. We are planning on going to visit another country for a few days. Any advice on where to go? We are on a tight budget and would like a cheaper flight and hotel. We were thinking of going during the week because maybe that would be cheaper? We are leaving from Manchester UK. So far the cheapest places seem to be Scotland and Ireland, although I'd love to visit Germany. Anyone know of any good websites to get travel packages or anything?

Answer: The best way to do it is book early and go via Ryan air or easy jet.
They both have flights out of Manchester, you could always fly out of Liverpool, there is a bus that runs every hour to and from the airport.
Paris is cheap to get to as is bael/mullhouse/freiberg.
the second place gives easy access to switzerland, austria and germany.
my humble opinion is travel to this airport, take the train to Freiberg and spend a few days there - Frieberg is in the black forest in Southern Germany.
It is very beautful and a lovely place for a few days awawy.

Alternatively there would be cheap flights to berlin.

Question: Am planning a 10-13 day trip to several European countries/should do escorted tour or on own?
Hi, I am traveling with my 65-year old mother [I am 27] and I think she likes the convenience of an escorted tour, I wouldn't mind being more independent, is there an escorted tour people could recommend, as well as the best ways to go about planning a trip as complex as this? I am looking into a package that already has the hotels, airfare, and rail tickets included, so its just the actual day trips I would need to plan.

Answer: Try this one, They provide escorted tours with hotels and transportation included. They also have tours for several countries around Europe. I hope that helps.

Question: European vacation recommendations?
My friend and I, ages 25 and 35, want to go to Europe in about a year. She wants to drink a lot of beer for two weeks(she wants to do Dublin), and I want to see some historical sites, maye a couple walking tours.
I'm trying to find some good packages, but we don't want to be stuck traveling with the same group of people on the same bus for days. We prefer to mostly do our own thing, just the two of us. But there's also communication issues to consider, so maybe we should be with a guide most of the time?
For me, I hate wind. Rain is okay as long as it's not constant for days, snow I love but it's hard to travel in. She's more sensitive and would prefer the weather to be as mild as possible.
So, on a budget of, say, $2,000 or so each, what are the best websites to use and which city or cities would fit our needs best?
And what's the difference between Cork and Dublin?

I'm looking for a package deal, flights and hotel, at leat a week, up to 2 weeks.
I would love to hear from anyone Irish, and Europeans in general, as to specific areas that are full of things to do and not too expensive. Neighborhoods that are safe for young women, with inexpensive hotels and food.

Answer:

Question: I need advice for a European Vacation that includes Amsterdam and Paris.?
In May 2009, I want to spend one week in Europe. I want to visit Amsterdam and Paris for sure... undecided on the rest. I would like ANY advice on ANY part of this vacation, from people who have already been there.
For example... is it best to buy a package deal off the internet or consult a local travel agent?
I have never been out of the United States and am excited and scared of making a mistake in my travel plans. :)
Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

Answer: I think for a week you will have your hands full with just these two cities.
Paris is enough to fill a week at least by itself, by adding Amsterdam you will loose most of a day on traveling, checking out of your hotel/hostel, the actual travel and checking in and getting your bearings in your new hotel will take from breakfast till nearly dinnertime.

It is like somebody who is going to New York for a few days and add Washington DC to the mix because he was near. Or LA and San Francisco.

There are tours that do half of Europe in a week, but I think you would be crazy to do one, as you will not remember anything you have seen, only the inside of the bus.

If you want to do a package tour, and you have a reliable travel agent near, (that is in the USA,) go there. Do not book through an agent in Europe, as you can not judge whether the agent is trustworthy,

If you are unsure of what to book and where to go, go for an 'all in' tour, that is hotel in Paris, tours in town, 2 or 3 meals per day and a guide to fall back on.
I am sure that every travel agent will be able to find one of those for you.
(I would personally not combine Paris and Amsterdam, but if you insist, it is possible.)

I am Dutch, I live near Amsterdam, I have been to Paris many times and I travel often, mostly I book all my own things, but for new countries I often use a travel agent too.
