Question: Anyone know of any good European Travel Tours? We live in the Chicagoland area.?
My husband and I want to visit Europe next spring. Italy, Greece, France...niether of us speak any of those languages so we were wondering if a European tour would be the best route to see as much as possible in two weeks.

Answer: I've used EF and had a positive experience. That was about 12 years ago. We were supposed to travel with Milestone, and the director stole everyone's money and fled to England. We were in the paper, I made the cover of the Pioneer Press and was interviewed by Kathy Brock. EF saw us (we were all students) on TV and contacted us. They helped us, and that I'll never forget. If it's your first time, go with a tour.

Question: What are some great european travel tour groups??
I want to go travel Europe by myself and I thought maybe tour group would be the best way. Any helpful tips or good guides?

Answer: If you want to travel alone, or with a few friends, the Lonely Planet series are the best books, (I think and many others here also advise using them.)
If you want a guided tour, I have no experience with them, but I recently found a website that has many listed.

Question: European travel?
I would like to go to Europe next year with my 18 year old daughter. For someone who's never been outside the US, what do you suggest for us? We have about 14-16 days and have looked at different tour companies, but I'm just really confused. Because I have cousins in the Netherlands, I was thinking about making sure the trip included several days there, but otherwise, I'm not sure. I love history, but I think if I spend too many days in a large city (London, Paris, etc.) I'll go crazy. I love countryside too.... any good suggestions for a nice mixture?

Answer: If you like countryside and want to see beautiful small towns I will recommend Italy or Spain. In Spain start with Barcelona and in Italy with Rome or Venice. In Italy you can take tours to small towns in Umbria or the Venneto. A visit to Sienna and Pompeii shall be in your itinerary. In Spain I will Recommend a tour to Andorra,in the Pyrenees, Toledo and Segovia.

Question: What is a company that provides good european tours for people in their 30s? Web links please.?
I have just completed a Contiki tour and loved it. Although I want to go back to Europe, I was hoping to get a tour company that had more people on the tour in their 30s. All information would be appreciated. I would be travelling from North America. Thanks so much!

Answer: Rick Steves has European tours for people in their 30s - if you read blogs you'll see that some tours have more people in this age group than other destinations - like the long and really costly ones.

These are holidays for more adventurous people it seems.

Question: Contiki Tours How is the Company for a European Trip Thinking about the European Discovery Tour Any Suggest?
I have looked online and have had a mix of good and bad reviews and great and horrible reviews, can anyone tell me what they think. My main concern was hearing that the hotels were dirty and very far from main attractions?? I would be staying in what they call their superior tourist hotels, whatever that means doesnt tell the exact hotel? Anyone traveled with any other company and if so which is better?

Answer: The positives are that their tours are fairly inexpensive, and do hit the major highlights of Europe.

I agree that the hotels tend to be very basic (not dirty but very small, plain rooms) and poorly located, and another negative is that they tend to only spend 1-2 days in each place so you will have time for the most famous sights and that's about it.

Unless you are very set on taking a tour you should consider traveling independently. It's very easy to get around Western Europe on your own, even if you don't speak any European languages, and it would probably be cheaper than Contiki or another tour company.

Question: European Coach Tours?
I am traveling with two friends( we are all female) to Europe in May. We want to do a coach tour through Europe. I know that it is cheaper to buy coach tours through UK or European sites than from American sites. So far I found a 8 day/7 night trip that picks you up at the london airport then goes through Belgium, Holland, Germany,Switzerland and France. Then brings you back to the London airport. This has many cool inclusions ,tours, meals etc... It is a Cosmos tour. All for about $650 p/p. Is this a good deal? Do you have any tips on better tours, websites etc...? Has anyone ever been on a euro coach tour. Are they comfortable, roomy, fun, stop alot,safe.....? I would love any info. Thanks

Answer: Highlights of Europe: Professionally Escorted Motorcoach Tours
16 days Visiting England, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Vatican City, Italy, Switzerland and France
Featuring 2 night stays in London, Rome and Paris

I don't know if this is still going on but visit Insight Vacations they can help.

Question: Can a travel agent help with a DIY vacation?
I want to take my son on a European trip when he graduates hs, but we don't want to be tied to a certain type of tour. Can a travel agent help arrange hotels, train tickets and other things for us while allowing us to be able to do only what we want to do? Can an agent create a custom tour for us?

Answer: Certainly some can. There are travel agents who specialize in these types of things but they obviously charge a fee. Check the local travel agents in your area and ask alot of questions, find out what they specialize in and about how much it would cost for them to organize such a trip. Before you go have at least a basic idea of where you want to go and what you want to do.
An alternative mught be to try planning a european trip yourself. With the internet and email, there are TONS of opportunities to do all sorts of things. You can do lots of research about places to see and things to do. Even the travel websites offer packages like fly and drive or fly and train. Check out travelocity, expedia, etc.
Even if you decide to go to a travel agent, the more you learn about what's available and where you want to do, the better the job the travel agent can do in planning it.
Whatever you do, have an AWESOME trip!!!

Question: Which European tour company to take?
I will be 23 next year and would like to take a tour of Eastern Europe. I will be traveling alone. I like meeting new people, drinking, and socializing but not necessarily spring-break style. I also enjoy free time to get lost in the cities.

Can anyone recommend any tours? I did contiki this summer and loved it as i made life long friends, but I'm not that huge of a party person.

Answer: Have you considered traveling alone?
You will meet a lot of people in hostels, easy to find a few to get a drink with.
Even eastern Europe where relatively few people speak English is easy to travel. I found that in all major towns people spoke the language well enough, in small towns it was a little more of a puzzle, but it still worked.

Question: Good (english) travel agencies in holland for trip in europe?
I live in holland and want to go on holidays in other european countries. Are there some good travel agency?

I know D-reizen and some others. It seems that they have trips to mostly beaches and people booking trips there just lying on the beaches. But I would like to go to nature and maybe have some round trips in a country.

Another thing about the travel agencies I know is they have guided tours only in Dutch. Since I don't speak Dutch, some English speaking organised trips will be nice.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Answer: You could find a travel agency in your neighborhood and ask them, that's what they're there for... (reisburo, just look in your Gouden Gids or on http://yellowpages.goudengids.nl/search/... there's 2616 listed in the country) They can tell you exactly what English language tours are available... And then you could go to another travel agency maybe, and see what they offer? The thing with doing it on the Internet is that you do actually have to do the work yourself... Travel Agencies have trained professionals that know the market who do it for you... And they usually are just like supermarkets reselling tours from various tour operators/organizers... I think you're right about D-reizen being mostly beaches but they're more of a large operator/organizer than agency I think...

Also, http://www.djoser.nl I think has very nice trips, but their site is in Dutch... Ask your travel agency about them...

ALWAYS make sure that the agency you're booking with is a current member of SGR though! That way you can be reasonably sure you won't get ripped off... http://www.sgr.nl/start.asp you can check to make sure on their site...
