Question: Can anyone recommend a travel/holiday message board?
I am going travelling next month and have quite a few questions to ask before I go (yes I know I could use Yahoo answers). Can anyone recommend a travel/holiday message board please?
Thanks in advance.

Answer: I believe the two most popular travel message boards can be found at Frommers.com and Fodors.com. They are both well respected publishers of travel guides and the folks who frequent their boards are serious about giving good travel information. If you are doing adventure travel, your best bets are LonelyPlanet.com or Bootsnall.com

Question: Are there holiday/travel gift vouchers that can be bought as a present?
Hello, My parent's wedding anniversary is coming up shortly. I would like to buy them a holiday, but leave them the option of where and when to go.

Are there any travel agents (high street or online) that offer vouchers that can be purchased?
And if so, do you have experience of using these vouchers (i.e. are there any pitfalls)?

Answer: Yes, check with your travel agent, my cousin got a holiday gift as for honeymoon when she got married.

Question: I have an interview with First Choice Holiday travel agency tomorrow?
Its for work experience as I am currently studying BTEC First Diploma Travel and Tourism Level 2 course at college.
Would I be successful in this interview I mean I need this work experience so that I can get a job in the future when I finish this course.
What should I say and what should I wear?

Answer: Be prepared about the company (its history and activities) and about the travel industry trends. If you study this then it won't be a problem. I'm thinking about things like the aftereffects of the September 11 attacks, along with other turmoil overseas, had a chilling effect from 2001 through 2003. The subsequent dip in the economy also led to slashed budgets for business travel, the bread and butter of the lodging and rental car sectors. But through 2007, a variety of factors—including a perception that the economy is improving, increased confidence about security and lower-cost plane fares—have led to an overall rebound. PKF Hospitality Research predicted hotel revenue (along with costs, unfortunately) would be up for the fourth consecutive year in 2007. Even high gas prices haven’t managed to dampen travelers’ wanderlust. According to a survey conducted by AAA, 1.7 percent more people will take a trip of 50 miles or more over the last weekend of May, 2007 than did the year before. They also noted travelers would economize on food and hotels in order to reduce the sting of high prices at the pump.
Moreover, express your interest and passion for the industry and the job itself.
Wear something elegant and formal, this shows that you take the interview seriously.

Question: Anyone have tips on cheap holiday travel ideas for new years 2008?
Hi guys, my name is sofia, I live in Los Angeles. Help! My boyfriend and I would really like to get away this year, at the end of December, possibly beginning of January for an eight or nine day vacation, Our budget is limited, and Im really vexd on where we should go. My best friend's are going to pukhet Thailand, but I can't seem to find anything reasonable during that peak holiday season. We really don't have to travel there. My boyfriend has NEVER been outside the united states (I know:) so I wanted to bring him somewhere unique, exotic, and fun... I was hoping you might have a good idea, maybe a story from one of your travels that you would like to share with me. I am really overwhelmed! Ideally our budget is really only about $2,ooo per person airfare, hotel, and food, and I DON'T want to take a cruise! lol.. Am I crazy, or is this doable? I would so appreciate your help! Question: Looking for somewhere hot in December for Holiday - travel from Scotland?
By hot i mean that the temp is above 25 C. Just for 7 days. Any suggestions?

Answer: You'll have to get out of Europe - most of Spain won't be hot enough. The Canaries might be a good choice. They are off the coast of Africa but aren't too expensive to get to.

Question: Where do you prefer to spend your holiday/travel in Southeast Asia?
Any 'best' places? Where and why? Any particular reasons? Where would you avoid most and examples? Any experiences to share?

Answer: South East Asian countries are so full of culture and are so beautiful. I travelled extensively around this area during the i moved to the philippines for 5 years (im australian hehe) But yeah there was some beautiful places in the Philippines that truly stuck in my mind. There was this place called "Coco Grove Beach Resort"and i was awed at the size of the place and how few rooms there were and how beautiful...and cheap the place was! i stayed there for like 3 months instead of staying at the dorm hehe. Two things stay in your mind: how amazingly nice and professional the staff are..they like make it personal without over stepping the boundaries hehe...they remember everyones names and joke around and make u feel at home. it was so awesome. and its so beautiful too! like an island paradise...man im starting sound like an ad. hehe but it realy was great. i talked to so many other guests and they were all happy too =) its all by word of mouth and they always come back. if ya wanted to check it out ever, its on the island of Siquijor...and i think they have a website but i dont know it. oops lol but i think it might be like cocogrove.com.ph or something hehe like it was simple =D hope u i cud help! it truly was a great place

Question: As you have come into your Senior Years, do you find yourself avoiding holiday travel?
I recently traveled for Memorial Day Week-end so I could spend time with some friends. But, I was there early and left well after the week-end to avoid traffic and folks with road rage. Is this a sign of age or do I just prefer extended holidays? I kinda think it's a little of both.

Answer: Yes, but I never did travel on holidays even when I was younger. The crowds always reminded me of lemmings rushing to their doom.
