Question: Where's an unusual but cheap(ish) place to go on holiday/travel?
I'm turning 18 in January and planning to save up all my money to go travel somewhere lovely, but on the cheap. I probably won't be going untill the summer but I'm begining to plan it all in advanced.

I'm not into luxsury hotels and stuff like that, I want to go somewhere with a bit of culture and atmosphere. I'm thinking of traveling alone, but unfortunetly I know theres alot of danger for women traveling alone. I've heard some horrable horror stories of travelers in china with human trafficing and everything.

I'd love to check out Japan, moroco, india, you know places that are diffrent from the UK.

Does anyone have any websites they could recoment or places they enjoyed? And how much it costs?

Answer: Japan is very expensive so I would not recommend there.

If you want to go someone nice but safe and cheap, I would recommend Eastern Europe. Although parts are becoming more and more popular, there are some true gems left to be discovered - i.e. Lithuania.
Out of Europe, India is a lovely choice but please make sure you go to recommended places. Don't skimp on accommodation if you're not sure it will be safe. China is another nice example and extremely cheap once you get there.

Question: Cheap Holiday?
I live in england - im 26 yrs old. My holidays so far in life have mainly been beach with families - only once have i broken the mould and thats when i went to euro disney. I really want to see different parts of the world but heres the catch
:
1) I have a full time job so any travelling would have to be done when i book time off

2) Im short on money so flights/accomodation would have to be quite cheap

3) im sick of the stereotypical beach holiday

4) i want to experience europe and places that have good night life and a vibrant scene

- I love the england dont get me wrong but want to see places further afield - even within the uk is fine - ANY help is much appreciated

Answer: keep an eye on the budget airlines like Easyjet, Ryanair etc ... sometimes they have really cheap sales and so forth ... also if you check their websites you can often get really cheap flights if you book well in advance, but the only problem is that often these cheap deals cannot be cancelled or amended ... obviously the destination needs to be affordable, places such as Bulgaria, Prague, Malta tend to be reasonably affordable, also some areas of Spain

for affordable accommodation often the cheapest is hostels ... if you put "hostel (destination)" into Google you'll pull up quite a number of sites ... do you have someone to go with? could you share?

the other option is late deals, especially early and late in the season you can get some fantastic offers ... my son was telling me last week that he found a late deal to Turkey for flight, accommodation, food and drink at a resort hotel in Turkey all for £180 based on two sharing a room

Question: I Have Been Offered A Cheap Holiday In Tunisia-Cheap Flight The Problem?
As I have said I have been offered a cheap holiday in Tunisia.
Have looked on the net and been to travel agents and the prices are ridiculous?

Have tried all the flight companies and all are around the same price.

Advice please?

Answer: It's because now is a peak time. When it's off-peak then the flight prices come down

If your holiday date is flexible then just keep your eyes open on the internet & you'll notice the flight prices come down (usually when children are at school)
The cheapest time to go to Tunisia (from UK) is november/december but late sept/october is quite cheap too

Question: Can you suggest some cheap / affordable overseas holiday destinations from Sydney, Australia?
I am planning a holiday for my boyfriend and I for May/June this year. I have Thailand and Fiji in mind at the moment. However, can anyone else suggest some other cheap holiday destinations (other than Bali, Fiji or Thailand)? We'll be traveling from Sydney, Australia.

Answer: Well i would get the Tiger air to Singopare then on to Clark (Philippines) then you can explore by luxury foot passenger cruise ships the whole Philippine islands.
You have safety on the ship, and free food and beds !
The fares are about 10 AUD per night (goto the Visayas and Mindanao islands).
It is quite safe on the ship, especially if you get a cabin.
Sailings from Pier 14 manila, you can go from Clark by bus.
The fare is about 100 AUD from Sydney to Clark.
Then if you have time there is a boat from Gensan to Bitung and also from Zamboanga to Sandakan (malaysia) again, quite safe on the boats and in ports, in Malaysia you can get a KTMB train pass and explore. In Indonesia there are more boats to get you to Bali then I am also looking for a passenger boat to Darwin.
I am keen to goto OZ again, but not to fly
