Question: Going to the States from the UK this summer for a holiday, any travel tips appreciated.?
It has been a long time since I have been on a plane and I want to be well prepared for my journey. So any practical tips for travelling would be appreciated.

Answer: Take a good book, a bottle of fresh water, something to eat or snack on. It's such a long boring flight. I hope you get to sit next to good company as that can pass the time quicker than anything. But vice versa too if you get someone who you want to push out the air lock! Have a great holiday.

Question: Travel tips for my dog?
We are taking my English springer spaniel with us on holiday. We are going in the car and because there is no space in the boot at all, he is sitting in the back of the car with us. We are planning to stop with the dog. How many stops do you think he might need? Also, do you have any other tips which will make this journey as smooth as possible.

Answer: I make about three ( or more)12 hour trips per year with all of my dogs. They need to stop about every 2 hours during daylight hours, and not much at night.
Carry bottled water, or water from home for them, as they often refuse to drink strange water.
Carry a roll of paper towels, for any accidents, plus a zip lock bag and wet wipes. Take pooper picker-upper bags.
Keep ID tags on him.
Take mosquito wipes if going to area that has them. Make sure his heartworm preventative is current.
Don't allow him to sniff others dog's urine or droppings at pet stops.

Question: Do you have any great travel tips for Spain?
Planning a holiday and looking for thngs to do and places to avoid

Answer: I have been to Spain a few times, and absolutely love it. The is obviuosly so much to see and do, and any guide book can give you the highlights, however these are my personal observations/recommendations
1. Madrid- Madrid is like a combination of New York and D.C, very much the financial and governmental hub of the country, with the associated businesses and buildings. it is easily walkable and has a very easy busing system, so don't spend too much money on cabs. Do see the Prado museum, walk through Puerto del Sol to Madrids version of Times Square, check out the Reina Sofia Museum, eat some food and watch some entertainers at Plaza Mayor and check out the Palacio Real. Tapas is a big thing in all of spain, so enjoy

2. Depending on how you are traveling, if you can drive up to San Sebastion, do. It is a gorgeous, beach town, close to the Bilbao Museum and an hour from Pamplona, where they have the running of the bulls. I did the running of the Bulls in 2004, it is a lot of fun,but I was 31, and fit, so be careful. The running is usually the second week in July for about 7 days. If you get the chance, you can watch a bullfight there, but I felt it was barbaric

3. Barcelona, in my opinion one of the best and most fun cities in Europe. A combination of San Fran and Paris. Lots of artists, entertainers, and beware, pick pockets. Great weather, lots of fun places to eat and drink and dance. Walk along the Ramblas, an open mall of shops, artists and entertainers. See the Picasso Museum, See the Sagrada Familia cathedral, and if you have time Parc Guell.

4. I took a side trip to the Ballearic Islands of Spain, which include Ibiza and Mallorca. Exclusive, expensive, lots of pretty people and nice clothes. Gorgeous sunsets. Party atmosphere.

Question: Travel tips for a single guy on a working holidaymaker visa to the Uk.
Hello everyone,I was hoping to gets some ideas how to best experience the UK and Europe. Would love some feedback from experienced backpackers and adventure seekers, would appreciate information on places of interest, best prices on accommodation, food, flights etc. I look forward to hearing from as many people as possible to get the best out of my working holiday.

Answer: If you want cheap accomodations in UK and Europe, go to any branch of the YHA or Youth Hostel Association. In London, the branch is somewhere in St. Pauls station using the London Underground. You pay a fee and they give you a card which you can use around Europe for a price and they mark it with a sticker. If the card is maxed with stickers, you get the next accomodation either free or discounted. I have been travelling most of Europe living on these hostels and its also a great way to meet new friends.

While in UK, go online to RYANAIR or EASYJET flights as they are the cheapest ones around (some flights may cost only $20 on good days)

Question: Have any holiday tips for American teens traveling London?
A few friends and I are planning on going to London this November. We'll be staying for about 10 days. So what we want to know is, from the view of fellow teens or young adults who live in London or who have been there, what would be the most fun to do while on holiday? Are there certain tours or clubs or museums and whatnot that we should definitely go to and see?

We are very into the arts, theatre, movies, and especially the music (McFLY!), and the history and culture of Britain. We want to have as much fun as we can, but not spend too much cash. We have some money saved up, but if the prices get a bit too high, we can always borrow some from our parents for now, and pay them back later.

Pleeeease let me know everything you know about traveling around Britain. I need to know as much as possible. Thank you so much to all of those that help!

Answer: Mcfly are apparently actually touring the UK in November - So you and your friends may be able to get to see them in concert while you're here.

Make sure you do all the touristy things if you haven't done them before - Buckingham palace, big ben, tower of London Etc....BUT

I would strongly suggest you take a visit to a place called Camden Town & visit the shops and market there, it's a great place & I'm sure you and your friends would love it.

Take your time & enjoy yourselves!

Question: Help - Going on holiday to Thailand, suggestions, tips, etc
Im planning to go with my girlfriend to Thailand this October for 2 weeks. This is our first trip there and would appreciate advice. I plan to spend /-5 days in Bangkok, and would like to know where else to spend the rest. We would like to visit the beaches but more importantly, prefer to experience the sights and sounds. The thought of lying on the beach doing nothing is NOT appealing. The thought of a cruise from Bangkok to one of the islands eg: phi phi sounds good as Im sure there will be lots to do on the way. Any suggestions on which cruise I could book with(esp if I can do it online or would it be better if I book it there?). Suggestions on 'must see' spots, Bangkok and elsewhere. Any travel tips would really be appreciated.

Answer: Oh mate - trust me, 5 days is way too much time to spend in Bangkok - you will be wondering what the hell you can do with your time after 2 days. No-one I know who has been to Bangkok liked it very much.

I'm married to a girl who is originally from Bangkok who obviously knew all the best places to go when we went back there last year and...to be honest...there aren't that many. Although Bangkok is absolutely huge, massive in fact, there really isn't that much for tourists to see apart from the huge markets and the temple - maybe a cruise up the river. You will also find that the heat and disgusting quality of the air in the city will absolutely put you offf of walking around too much - it really is very bad indeed - hundreds of little BBQs line pretty much every street and the traffic is absolutely unbelievable - far worse than I have seen anywhere else - it just does not move. Bangkok is really just a huge residential city - it's not really an international tourist destination in the same ways that London, New York, Paris, Rome, Sydney etc are. That being said, unless you really go bargain basement the hotels are very nice and of an excellent quality with great food etc - but you don't really want to go to Thailand and sit in a hotel in Bangkok for 5 days.

My advice would be 2 days abolsute maximum in Bangkok and then spend the rest of your time on the islands - any islands - or travel up to Chang Mai in the North. Wherever you go on the islands make sure you hire a scooter - they are ridiculously cheap to hire for a day / few days and this will really make ALL the difference to your stay as you will be able to get around much easier and, frankly, the less time spent on Thai public transport the better.
