Question: How many air miles do I need to travel to Auckland, New Zealand for free?
From UK using Star Alliance.

Answer: I know this - it's 60,000.

I earned this by 2 trips from NZ to Europe at 30,000 air miles each so had a free trip to anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere or several free trips to Australian & South Pacific destinations.

Question: What is the shortest way to travel on commercial airline to Auckland New Zealand?

Answer: I flew from LA to Auckland non-stop...

Question: How much does it cost to travel from the Philippines to Auckland, New Zealand?

Answer: $2,900 on Thai Airlines

Question: Agricultural land availability and price range within travelling distance of Auckland City New Zealand?
Would like to immigrate and purchase agricultural land around Auckland City New Zealand

Answer: a really good website to check out is

www.open2view.co.nz

You enter in your search criteria (location, type of residence / land, price range etc) and it will give you a list of results with photos, price information and the like.

the Auckland region is probably the most expensive place to live in New Zealand - but if you work there, you will usually get paid more than other New Zealand areas.

Question: US to New Zealand travel with layovers, where will I need to pick up my bags?
I have a trip planned for NZ in about a month and I was wondering where and when I will have to pick up my bag that is check. I am leaving out of KCI on america west to phoenix, then from phoenix to LAX on america west again, then from LAX to Auckland NZ, then from Auckland to palmerston north, I am wondering will I have to pick up my bag at LAX to check it for an international flight, and then after that will I pick it up at Auckland where I go threw customs (I think) or will it go directly to palmerston north, my last stop?

basically if anyone knows how checked bags work for this kind of layovers, any help would be great, just want to be prepared.

Answer: It really depends on what the gate agent in KCI puts on the bag tag. When you check in bags, look at the code. It should read, from bottom to top, PHX, LAX, AKL, PMR

If it doesn't have all these codes, then pick up your bag in the top airport listed on the bag tag. Most likely, that will be LAX because I'm really not sure if HP (America West) will automatically tag bags for Air New Zealand or Qantas.

If all are listed, then pick up your bag in Auckland, New Zealand. This is where you'll clear NZ Customs. Most international airports require passengers to get their luggage and present it for inspection when first entering a country. Once you clear Customs in NZ, there will be an area to re-check your bag for the flight to PMR.

The only reason you'd have to pick up your luggage at LAX is if America West didn't tag the bag for the New Zealand leg of your trip.

If your NZ flight number is listed on the bag tag, just walk out of LAX Terminal 1, make a right when you hit the street, and walk either to Terminal 2 (Air New Zealand) or to the Tom Bradley International Terminal between Terminals 3 and 4 (for Qantas and Air Pacific). There's one UA flight at Terminal 7 that goes to NZ also.

Question: How much do I need to travel around Australia/New Zealand for 3 months?
We are travelling round Aus/NZ. Fly to Sydney, then 2 weeks in Auckland, a week in Rotorua, 12 days in Wellington, 10 days in Christchurch, 2 weeks in Sydney, 2 weeks in Melbourne, 2 weeks in Hobart, and then home.

Already booked Sydney to home flights and 2 weeks in Sydney accom, how much do you reckon we should take out altogether for the trip approx.?

Answer: We're planning a RTW trip ourselves. We'll spend 3 weeks in AU and 3 weeks in NZ.
After spending some time reading up on it in books and the internet...

Australia
We're going with a 75USD per day budget for food and misc items (such as gifts, etc). We'll get a Central Coaster Pass from Greyhound for 183AUD per pax.
Accomodation 100AUD per day

New Zealand
Also 75USD per day, accomodation 70NZD per day.
Still working on how it is to get around.

Obviously a lot depends on how luxuriously you want to travel. There's a big difference between backpacking thru AU nad NZ staying hostels, or renting a car and staying in 4-5 star hotels.
Also, you probably want to allocate an extra $500 per adult for any sightseeing and activities.

Question: Where should I travel to in New Zealand, in the North Island?
Me and my boyfriend (We live in Auckland) want to go away for Easter weekend with our car. We'd like to stay at a campsite. Can anyone recommend where a nice area to stay is and any accommodation? We'd love somewhere quiet where there won't be a lot of kids running around, and also somewhere near a beach. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks!

Answer: There is an excellent camping site at Sandspit that you can either use your tent or rent a cabin. I is only 1hr's drive from Auckland. The area is great and you will be right on the water and be able to watch the boats coming and going. You are 5 mins by car from 2-3 other beaches that have great areas to sit and watch everybody enjoying themselves - Omaha, Snells, Parkiri, Martins Bay. Plus only 10minutes from Matakana that has country markets, pottery, art galleries etc. Heaps to do and 2-3 lovely vineyards and restaurants if wanted.
If you are interested I would suggest you ring immediately as it is not a big camp and could get full for Easter.

Question: What is New Zealand like to live and work in?

I hope to travel to New Zealand next year on a working holiday visa with a view to maybe living there for a few years. I did the whole Australia thing 2 years ago and people who I spoke to said they preferred NZ. As I still have the travel bug I think it is only right that I give New Zealand a go.

Is Auckland the place to get all the office jobs? How much on average would I pay for rent?

Answer: Its all pretty relative. Auckland is the largest business center in the country, but of course living costs tend to be higher there. And again, that depends on which part of Auckland you choose to reside.

I live just outside of Auckland and enjoy a rural lifestyle, with much of my work in either Auckland or Hamilton. Being an employer I have to agree with the statement that tax is too high. But most people do quite well regardless... Many people here own their own home fairly young etc (recent article quoted a study which endorsed that observation with results showing NZ was one of the highest countries per capita to own homes)..

One of the reasons Kiwis like Aussie is that their government is quite a bit more sympathetic tax wise with pretty attractive incentives for businesses etc and of course that has a flow on affect...

Come have a look around, there are many sights and attractions and we are by and large a fairly friendly lot. And as I say, I stay because of the lifestyle

Question: New Zealand Travel advice please?
I am going to be in Auckland for four days at the beginning of April and was hoping I could get some advice on where to stay (cheap) and what to do (SO much but with limited time and funds, I need a litttle direction!) The country looks so amazing, and I would like to ge in some of that incredible scenery if possible, but not knowing a lot about the country beyond their rugby team I hope some other intrepid travellers, or friendly kiwis can point me in the right direction.

Answer: Hey....im a permanent Aucklander who constantly has family from outside Auckland come visit. When they are here they stay in a place called Hotel Formulae 1. Its reasonably priced, the rooms are a little small but they are nice, clean and very well maintained, some even come with a balcony so you get to see a bit of town. It is extremely centrally located, right smack in the heart of Auckland City with the harbour on one side of you that provides ferry services to the North Shore and to the outer island like Rangitoto and Waiheke which are definitely always worth seeing. Close to the Viaduct which is about a 5min walk there is the bus station and train station which always has transport to take you where ever you may like to go in Auckland. Bus tours are also available which show you around Auckland City Business District and surrounding areas. Try checking out www.greatsights.co.nz for attractions and stuff and www.hotelformule1.com for the hotel. Other wise give us a hollar we always willing to show off our beautiful city.
