Question: What is the best travel package to New Zealand for a single senior.?
Answer: I'm not too sure where you are coming from, so I can not tell you what kind of fares and travel/accom packages you can get.
However, if you have not booked your ticket yet, try www.kayak.com
This searches all the airlines that go the roote you want, and will give the cheapest flight.
I recommend flying into Christchurch as opposed to Wellington or Auckland, if you can.
If you do fly into Auckland have a look at this web site for some ideas on tours etc to do there
http://www.nztours.co.nz/
(Going down to Rotorua is a must in the North Island).
Then if you do fly into Wellington (which has amazing a very artist flair to the city) I would recommend going by Ferry across to the South Island. I lovely trip going through the Marlbrough Sounds at the tip of the South Island.
Christchurch is on the east coast of the South Island.
Have a look at this websites for some things to do in Christchurch and the South Island.
http://www.scenicpacific.co.nz/
Some must see's are the West Coast (Fox Glacier, Pancake rocks etc) and then also Kiakora on the East Coast (going on a Whale watch boat trip, then coming back to shore and feasting on fresh lobster, is still one of the best things I have experinced this life time).
New Zealand caters for all toursit markets, from the adventure junkies (bunjee jumping etc) to the senior's. You will find that the locals are more than willing to accomadate to your needs and extreamly helpful.
I have given you a few ideas and links to help you out on your trip.
There are easy to find Information Centres in almost every town in NZ, and they will be most helpful in advising you.
I sincerely hope that you have a FANTASTIC vacation!
Question: What are some items you can get in America, but not in New Zealand??
I want to send my friend a birthday package who lives in New Zealand with some cool goodies from america that she can't get there. Any one have any ideas?? It has to be able to travel in a little box...so nothing that needs to be cold.
Answer: it does depend on whether your friend is american and will be missing stateside foods, or a kiwi and you want to send novelties.
if your friend is a homesick yank, ask them what they're missing most and send that, otherwise I think your friend will appreciate anything you send!
hersheys is not always available (but not impossible to get) so a bag of kisses maybe, reeces peanut butter cups, jiff peanut butter (someone elses suggestion) is definitely not sold, nor are any of the twinky / debbie / hostess kind of "cakes", no dime bars, I can't think of anything else iconically american right now that isn't available! don't send anything by cadburys, nestle etc, it is all available.
as another answerer suggested, regional stuff from where you're from is good, but nix on mexican sweets, NZ is very close to asia, so tamarind sweets etc are everywhere.
if your friend is a girl, american magazines are good, but keep it trashy, usa vogue, allure, tattler, harpers etc are all available so it'll be a waste of postage. go with the mags they don't bother to import like seventeen etc or more obscure usa decorating / cooking mags if your friend is too grown up for girly mags ;)
Question: Australia and New Zealand?
I want to travel to Australia and New Zeland in Nov this year for 2 weeks approx. I would like to know any travel agencies do such tour package in Vancouver? Do I need to apply Visa for these countries? My budget will be around 4000CAD all inclusive.
Answer: Air Canada is the only Airline that does a direct non stop flight from Vancouver to Sydney Australia. They should be able to suggest good packages for both countries. Australia is just way too big to do in 2 months let alone a week or so. So just stick to the area around Sydney. New Zealand is small and compact and easy to get to see in a week or so.
Question: Where is the best place in the world to travel if you are a solo traveler?
I would say New Zealand, because the country was very accommodating to Solo travelers in my opinion it was the best time. But I am planning vacation for next year, and was kind of wondering if anyone had ideas where its great to travel as a Solo traveler? I have been to quite a few places around the world, and more often than not, as a solo traveler, I feel almost like a 3rd wheel, and I don't do package tours either. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Thanks.
Answer: I went to Europe last summer by myself. The best place in Europe for solo travelers in my opinion was Amsterdam. The people are really friendly and nice. If you stay at a hostel, you can get to know your roommates and travel around the city with them. Make sure you go to Vondell Park. It's so big and pretty! If you have any other questions about Amsterdam, you can email me.
Question: Luggage with Air New Zealand?
Hi. I am travelling home to from Los Angeles to Australia via Air New Zealand and I have purchased a life size stand up as a souvenir. This has come packaged and folded in the middle but it will not fit in my suitcase unless I fold it up which I don't really want to do. I was wondering if I was allowed to carry this on board or is it too big? (Keep in mind it's just a piece of cardboard)
Answer: I very much doubt you will be allowed to take it in the cabin with you. You would be better leaving it packed and check it in. However, if the aircraft is not full and you use a bucket full of charm, who knows ??
