I'm a student, hence the cheap part, headed to Asia for at least a few months and need travel insurance. STA is a little pricier than I expected, can anyone reccomend what (or what not) to look at?

A lot of the sites I have checked require an adult as well. I am 14, need to travel to America, and would like to spend as little money as possible on travel insurance.
Linda M: Yeah, I forgot to add something about that. Obviously I would want something with good medical expenses, money for baggage loss, etc. In America, if you don't have insurance and your condition is serious, you're pretty much out of luck regarding money. Thanks for the advice. :)
Answer: I would try the post office, you cant do it online,but go in and get a leaflet and give them a call, when it comes to insurance cheap is not always best! YOU MUST CHECK THE COVER !!! for the USA you need the highest medical and you also need to check for personal libility is covered , as they sue for everything. Please please do not go for the cheapest quote if you fall ill it is just not worth it and you / your parents could be paying it off for years.

I'm going on holiday on Thursday with my friends, and originally we were going without travel insurance. However, I changed my mind, and was looking for cheap insurance. I found a policy that has £10m medical expenses, £2m personal liability cover, £3000 cancellation cover and £2000 baggage cover, and all for £4.73. Is this too good to be true?
The company's called Columbus Direct Europe, and they're one of loads. There were 2000 hits on the site I went on. It's not that I don't trust them - I'm sure they're probably great, but is it wise to get cheap insurance online? I don't want to get injured or anything and then find the company is a rip off!
