Question: Where is the best place to find international travel health insurance to a popular destination?

Answer: I would check with a travel agent or at a local AAA's--they have travel insurance programs that cover everything. You can pick different levels of coverage, anywhere from hurricane insurance, coverage for lost luggage, pre-existing medical conditions, delayed or cancelled flight coverage(if booking a cruise it's best to book it through the cruiseline itself because they cover the flight interruption problems and will guarantee transportation to the next port of call)--the agents can give you brochures expaining the ypes of coverage and most coverages cover domestic and international travel! AAA's members get discounts also so you may want to consider joining if you aren't a member already! have a great trip!

I am travelling from central asia. And now i am currently in Kuala lumpur, Malaisia.
And i am thinking about travelling to few other countries.
And then, may be a bit late, now i am thinking about travel insurance. I have read from internet there are annual international insurances. But there are too many relevant/not-relevant information, and i have not enough time to read them in detail. If you have any practical suggestion, reccomendation that will be very helpfu.
Thank you very much.

Answer: Yes, several companies offer on line travel insurance, but you will have to print off your cover from wherever you are, and not all internet cafes will let you download/print attachments. Regret you will have to complete the forms fully - whether you think the info is relevant or not

Question: Where can I get the Best deal for International Group Travel Insurance in India?
I am a Operations Manager at a Travel Management Company in India. We regularly have groups travelling abroad for Meetings, Incentive Rewards Program, Conferences and Events. This sector being fiercely price driven has very low margins. While I was going through the cost sheet we found that the Travel Insurance we were buying was not giving us any discounts, though the group was a big as 120 members.
Is there a Company/Provider in India which provides Group rates for all group sizes from 20 to 1000? Please provide contacts of such a service provider. Would be of great help.

Question: Travel Insurance -- Messa/Blue Cross Blue Shield, am I covered?
Hi there!

My mom is a teacher who has Messa/Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance. I'm planning a trip to Asia this summer, and was curious to see whether or not there was any international travel coverage with her plan. I'm planning on calling the insurance company sometime within the next week, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this?

Answer: You definitely have to call the company directly. Even if you spoke to someone who has the same company, that doesn't mean they have exactly your situation or coverage. You really should look into travel insurance also. Most travel insurance includes really well rounded package that can cover all your concerns while traveling. Good luck and have fun!

Question: What is the best company to get travel medical insurance through?
I am going to France through a study abroad program through my college. In order to apply for a visa, I need a letter from my medical insurance company stating that I will be covered in France, but I think it would be faster to get coverage through an international travel insurer. I'm racing against the clock. I'm searching on the web, but I have no idea what I'm doing really. . What companies are most reputable?

Answer: Tourists go through Travel Guard and similar companies (check www.insuremytrip.com to compare plans) but as a student I don't think you are responsible for getting your own insurance. The study abroad program should have you covered through their insurance. Have you asked them?

Otherwise it doesn't take long for your insurance company to confirm that you are covered abroad if that is the case, they can fax you the letter. Just call them and ask them to.

Question: World travel insurance for Canadians without provincial health insurance?
World travel insurance for Canadians without provincial health insurance

I am looking for an international backpacker medical travel insurance provider that doesn't let the fact that my MSP (or similar provincial health insurance) is no longer valid. I have been out of Canada for 3 years and certain insurance providers require a provincial plan from the home country of the traveler to be in effect before providing insurance. I need to find a reasonably priced alternative catering to backpack travel (without the requirment of needing to return home withing a period of time). My MSP is no longer valid. Thx.

Answer: With all the delays of travel, more of the burden of these extra expenses is being passed on to us by the airline carriers. You may not need alot of coverage, but it is not a bad idea to consider some protection. The more vauable and important your trip, the more you should consider covering it with travel insurance.

I've been travelling for many years and I use travelex.

Question: Is Travel Insurance Mandatory for Travel to USA?
My parents are travelling to USA in feb, 2008. I just want to know whether travel insurance is mandatory for international travellers coming to USA on family visits?
If yes, may i have some insurance plans from reputable companies (at lower cost) which have good customer reviews?

I heard that "Travelers Liberty" plan is quite cheap and good for short trip, but don't know about the reputation and claim settlement efficiency of the company who is offering this plan.

Answer: Not exactally mandatory however, I believe that there is a requirement that the visitor have enough resources to be financially responsible.

Best place to find travel insurance is at a travel insurance comparison site like http://www.quotewright.com/

Question: Do you or don't you buy Travel Insurance for your Trip?
I was wondering how many of you out there have purchased insurance in there travel? I would say especially for International travel where many aren't covered medically.

What were your reasons for purchasing insurance? What reasons did you choose not to purchase insurance? Have you ever known someone where insurance helped them or where insurance could have helped them had they purchased it?

This question is sparked because today here at work I get TWO calls (ok that is VERY unusual) of ones that had a tragic event happen in there life. One his mother had a stroke and the other I’m unsure of the details all I gathered was it was her Brother in Law. Neither purchased Insurance. One will be out $2,200 dollars. The other 800 dollars.

Vendors penalties are extremely strict, especially now a days. Typically and yes we will try for you, they don't waive penalties due to it's unfairness to those who did purchase insurance.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

Answer: if you travel internationally without insurance, then you are being very stupid. many countries dont have the same standard of healthcare as the us. even if you have enough money on your credit card to pay for the treatment, you may not get the same standard of care. it doesnt matter if you are fit and healthy, accidents happen. if it is something serious your family may become financially crippled trying to get you home alive. BTW insurance usually also covers repatriation of mortal remains too - kinda hard to get these back without help from other sources

insurance for belongings is just your own risk - weigh up cost of items to cost of insurance
