Question: Where do i get medical travel insurance for applying visa?
embassy is asking me to get medical travel insurance...how and where to get it???

Answer: One of the insurance companies in your country can do that. You need to insure for the lenght of the visa. In some countries embassies asking directly from one insurance company, check with the embassy first.

Question: What is the best company to get travel medical insurance through?
I am going to France through a study abroad program through my college. In order to apply for a visa, I need a letter from my medical insurance company stating that I will be covered in France, but I think it would be faster to get coverage through an international travel insurer. I'm racing against the clock. I'm searching on the web, but I have no idea what I'm doing really. . What companies are most reputable?

Answer: Tourists go through Travel Guard and similar companies (check www.insuremytrip.com to compare plans) but as a student I don't think you are responsible for getting your own insurance. The study abroad program should have you covered through their insurance. Have you asked them?

Otherwise it doesn't take long for your insurance company to confirm that you are covered abroad if that is the case, they can fax you the letter. Just call them and ask them to.

Question: Where can I get travel insurance without medical cover?
I'm going to work abroad on a 6 month contract and want to cover my possessions, passport etc whilst in transit (will be making a few flights in this 6 months). However, as part of my contract I am getting private medical insurance, so I don't want to be paying for medical cover on the travel insurance. Does anyone know of a company who might do this? Or do I need to look at a different kind of policy, ie not travel insurance? Thanks very much

Thanks guys, should have said I'm in the UK. Have rung a couple of agencies already and they say they can't do it without the medical cover and didn't know anyone who would.

Answer: If you open a privilege account with the co-operative bank it is free cover for the whole of your account life. No worries ,no extras, anywhere in the world.

Question: Medical/Travel Insurance Providers Expatriates?
Hi, I will be living and hopefully working in Spain for anything from 6 months to over a year.

I am getting the new E111 card thing and am wondering if I should get some kind of medical insurance on top of it. I don't want travel insurance that will cover baggage etc. And actually I'm not really bothered about insurance and have travelled many times outside of Europe without it... but what happens if my luck is over... (which it seems to be lately)

Well basically, I have been searching for travel insurance initially but I want something alot cheaper than the £65 I found... plus it might be difficult to change the dates since I don't know when I'll be coming back to England.

Is medical insurance generally cheaper than travel insurance? I have applied for a quote from 2 companies but I have to wait until after the weekend for them to call me... which they probably wont.

Is it worth getting extra medical coverage other than the e111 card thing which is free anyway! yay!

Question: Anyone ever used travel medical insurance? Who did you get it with? Are you glad you purchased it?
I live in El Salvador with my wife and will be travelling to New Jersey for two weeks starting this coming sunday! We will have our 1 year old baby with us!

Answer: Of course you should! What would you do if you or your wife or your baby have a medical emergency? They will not treat you in the United States without some form of insurance. Check into the different kinds available to you in El Salvador. In Canada we use RBC,Transat Insurance, etc. There are tons of them you want one with a high coverage ie: 1 million for emergencies etc. Most do not cover pre existing conditions such as heart problems etc unless stable for 3 months prior to departure. I always recommend that people take it as I am a travel agent and always take it myself when I travel. It just takes one small problem to create a huge bill in the United States. I know of a person whose wife went into the hospital during their trip and he had a headache due to stress of the situation and the nurse asked him if he wanted an asprin or two for his headache. He said yes thinking what a nice nurse to offer this and was charged when they got the bill $50 Us per pill! They did not have coverage and have had to declare bankruptcy due to this trip as thier bill was just under 1 million as she had a stroke and was unable to be moved for 2-3 months. Make sure your insurance covers air ambulance so they can take you home if possible and bedside assistance in case they need to bring someone from home to help out the other travellers and coverage in case something happens to both of you parents. You need to think about your child as well as yourselves what would happen if you were both injured or worse? Who would take care of the baby? So many reasons to take insurance I don't understand why anyone would not take it. Better safe than sorry! Plus it's not that expensive and if it saves your life. Alot of the insurance companies also have translators and nurses on standby to help with any kind of medical issue in case of dispute. So take it and you will sleep better at night and be out a small amount of cash instead of a ton of it!

Question: How can an American living overseas get travel/medical insurance (at low cost) when visiting the States?

Answer: Very easy, there are several insurance companies that will provide medical insurance for vacations/travel -usually up to 6 weeks at a time (you can pay extra for extra days).
The yearly fee for such insurances is very low - around $20!!! -or less! (actually $9 was the cheapest I ever saw) However, it is important what your status is in the particular country where you insure yourself (citizen/resident or not )
You can browse the internet, or ask at a local travel agency of the country you reside in.
Some credit cards in Europe already come with this service without paying extra.

Question: Where can you get travel / medical insurance (to travel to Canada) from Egypt (specifically Nasr City, Cairo)?
I have a friend who lives in Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt who'd like to visit me, however they require a Temporary Residence Visa to come into Canada. My friend was told by the people that accept the applications that they require medical insurance, which I assume is the same or similar to travel insurance that we get when travelling abroad (like Blue Cross).

My friend's tried calling every single insurance place in the yellow pages and none of them deal with private individuals. Does anyone have any advice on how my friend can get some legitimate travel medical insurance that the Canadian embassey in Cairo will accept?

Answer: Usually, travel companies offer travel insurance for a small fee. Check with the travel agency that your friend will be using to purchase their traveling tickets.

Question: Has anyone ever had any experience using "medical travel insurance" overseas? See details below.?
Did the hospital/doctor accept your insurance or did you have to pay them and ask the insurance company to reimburse you? Which insurance co. did you use? What country did this take place in? Thanks.

Answer: in most cases ( doctor , bills ) you pay and get your money back later hospitals is a different matter in some cases your travel ins. will pick up the bill sometimes not until you submit the bill in any case you need to get precise infos from your ins . company

if you have B/C-B/S THEY WILL GIVE a form to you or severals to be filled out if needed.
