Question: I am looking for any UK travel insurance company that covers cancellation due to not being able to get visa?
I live in UK. I booked a holiday in Spain. I applied for a visa. However, the travel insurance I did does not refund me if I failed to get the Schengen visa. Does any one know of a UK insurance company that offers insurance that covers trip cancellation due to visa request being rejected by the consular?
Please note that my visa is not rejected yet. However, I want to be ready with a suitable insurance in case this happened.
Answer: You have to buy insurance before the cancellation. No one will cover that loss now after the fact.

Question: UK travel insurance/health service?
I'm an Australian who'll be living in the UK for 12 months soon. Is the national health service available to me and if so, do I really need to get travel insurance for the entire period? I understand that it covers more than health - loss of luggage, stolen property etc - but perhaps I could get insurance for the duration of my travelling rather than my actual stay in England.
Any help about this is greatly appreciated!
-Yes, I'll be on a visa and working with a national insurance number etc.
Answer: If you will be legally living and working in this country, then you should be paying tax and national insurance on your earnings. If you do then you will be entitled to the use of the NHS, but if you don't then you will have to take out private health insurance. Because of the state that the NHS is in nowadays, many people here have taken out private health insurance, even though they still have to pay towards the NHS from their salary.
Edit
Then you should be ok, but check with your employer to be on the safe side.

Question: Travel insurance (UK): how to claim for norovirus?
I know I'm daft, but I booked a non-refundable Jet2 return airline ticket. On the night before departure I got a tummy bug that made sure I couldn't travel - but I could hardly visit a GP either. In 2 days I was all clear again but of course the trip had come and gone.
I do however have travel insurance with AXA (annually) and I got a policy out on the flight itself with Travellers Protection Services Ltd (http://www.jet2.com
Has anyone got experience in trying to make a claim for something like this?
Answer: You could claim under the cancellation clauses but they will want proof that you were indeed off sick. Go to your doctor and he will examine you and ask you questions about your illness. He should then be able to issue a certificate. You might need to pay him up to £30 for this service so be prepared.
Question: I'm a uk resident living in Turkey. Where can I get an annual travel insurance policy?
which covers my return flights to the uk and travel around Turkey?
Answer: Try the local auto club ( RAC, AA ) in England, ( AIT ) in Turkey; I live in Switzerland and I am in the TCS ( Touring Club Swiss ) and I have an ETI travel insurance with them which covers me or my family any where in Europe ( the world for a bit extra ) whether I / we drive fly or train , it costs me about $70 for my membership and $60 for the ETI but it is well worth it as it is for all year and not just a couple of weeks like in England. Hope this helps.
