Question: What's the difference between single trip travel insurance and backpacker travel insurance?
am going to LA for 3 months....not backpacking...but it seems to be cheaper (insurancewise)....what's the difference between single trip and backpacker???? and why the price difference???
what should i do?
Answer: I've used STA backpacker cover several times. The main differences between that and my current policy are things like repatriation, upper limit of cover( that doesn't change for emergencies) but does affect post op treatment.
Also single trip insurance can be quite restricting. the student policies can be for as much as 24 months.
Question: Multi trip or single trip travel insurance?
Hello I'm going to Holland for 4 days Spain for 7 and Cyprus for 14 days this year Do you think a multi trip policy is worthwhile and which insurance company for value.
Answer: You don't say how old you are or what cover you need.
To give examples - an annual policy for a single person would be about £37.00
A single trip for 14 days would be about £15.90 and £11.40 for a shorter period.
So its about the same HOWEVER you only have to complete one form!
Question: Single trip travel insurance to the seychelles?
I'm looking for online travel insurance to the seychelles but am a little overwhelmed by the choices. I'm taking valubles, like a camera & laptop with me and looking for a policy that I will be covered for these things as well as the general things. Any recommendations?
Answer: squaremouth shows individual benefits next to the price of each product. It's a comparison site so has many competing products.
Once you have entered your quote information you will see a page with lots of products. There is a drop down that will show medical.
You just change the drop down to show any cover you like including baggage. This allows you to see a single benefit across multiple products, greatly simplifying the selection process.

Question: Where should I buy Proof of Travel/Trip Cancellation Insurance?
I will be going to New Zeland this summer and are requeried to have that type of insurance with the program I am going with. They suggested STA Travel. But it costs 125 for just 31 days. So I thought I would ask here to see if anyone else knew of a better deal.
Answer: Those policies are all rip offs, in my opinion. They are overpriced, but when required, are a cost of travel. I have never found a bargain, and usually just go ahead and get the one my travel agent offers.

Question: What is the AAA travel insurance policy on refunding a trip?
My boyfriend booked a trip to Vegas for next month and I don't think we will be dating by then. I put it under my AAA member number and he paid with his credit card. We picked the travel insurance they offered where you can cancel your trip for any reason and get a refund. Now my question is, Since he paid, can he cancel my part of the trip or since I'm the primary AAA member listed, can he only cancel his? I will still want to go.
Answer: Call the office you booked through. If he paid, he will be stuck with any penalties even if you are the member. Do you still want to go? Ask can you do a name change and pay him for the new person going. Although if airline tickets are involved you may just need to cancel and rebook.

Is there some kind of insurance I can get for him in the UK that will cover the rest of his trip and the flight home?
Answer: maybe you can try Castle Cover. they insure people over 50s.
Question: Any advise when buying trip/travel insurance?
Answer: Like anything, you can buy good travel insurance and bad travel insurance. I recommend you stick with a "brand name". TravelGuard International is the industry leader and they are not overly expensive. You can get more information from an interesting and easy-to-use site. Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and click on the red phone booth to read about "Worldwide Health" insurance. It covers health issues as well as trip interruption issues. You can easily buy on-line.
To avoid any possible conflict of interest, I recommend that you buy your travel insurance from a source different from your transport arrangements.
