Question: Is there a site that assist in planning a family vacation via road travel?
My husband and nine year old daughter would like to travel from Ohio down to Florida. Stopping at all desirable locations in between. Perhaps renting a condo, or vacation home rental in North or South Carolina for several days. Does anyone have any suggestions? Help please. Thank you to everyone that read my question and also to anyone that provides suggestions.
Answer: This site is very good for planning a road trip. It allows for multiple stops.
Indicates mileage, gives directions and maps.
At each place you stop, hotel links are supplied.

You first need to decide on your route.
Ohio is quite a large state and I'm not sure where your setting out from (I guess you might travel I77; following the Ohio River south is quite pleasant and Wheeling is a very nice city).
Do a net search for accommodation in the areas that interest you.
The best suggestion I can offer you is to buy yourself a Rand McNally (book-size) road atlas.
They have scenic routes and attractions marked.
Question: Where do you think is the best place to travel for a family vacation?
Answer: I think that Disney is one of the best family vacations. It's fun for the whole family, endless entertainment and fun. You also have Universal if the kids are a little older.
A cruise is also a good option. Different lines offer different prices and different activities for children and adults.
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is also fun for familes.
California, Hawaii, the Bahamas, etc. are all good families.
It really depends on what your family enjoys doing the most.
Question: Family Vacation Traveling from Minnesota by car?
We are looking to take our 7 and 1 1/2 year old on vacation in a few weeks. We would like to drive and go somewhere with attractions for both adults and children. We are willing to travel any distance though we only have 6 days that we can be gone. Any suggestions is appreciated.
Answer: Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Yellowstone. There is so much to do and see. The scenery, geysers, and wildlife is amazing. You can hike, horseback ride, relax at the grand hotels, fish, and even swim near some of the thermals near a river. Its an awesome place everyone needs to go. You will always remember it and want to go back. Its a relaxing place that is still really fun with so much to do. You will really get in touch with nature here. You will never forget sitting in a green mountain valley, watching a herd of bison cross a river with wolves howling in the background.

Question: A family member wants to travel overseas on his vacation leave?
A family member (hes is an MP in the army) is stationed in korea and he wants to travel to central america this coming december when he gets vacation time. Is it possible for him come visit the US first and then fly out to central america during his time off?
Answer: It can depend on what country he will be going to. As long as he notes it on his leave chit on where he is going and it is fully authorized yes he can do so.
Question: Can anyone give me ideas on places in the U.S. to travel to and things to do while there on a family vacation.
I've been to Texas, Florida, Louisianna, Missouri, Mississippi, all the Southern states. My family wants to go on a trip around Thanksgiving for a few days that isnt going to cost us a fortune yet offers several things to do to keep up busy. Doesnt matter if it's cold or warm states either. We've though about California, but would like more options. What I really want to know is what states offer what as far as sight seeing, attractions, or resorts.
Answer: My family and I went to NC this summer and had a wonderful time. We stayed in Maggie Valley. Just a short drive to many wonderful activities, yet away from the hustle and bustle that we normally encounter on vacations. It was a wonderful relaxing vacation. We avoided the crowds that you get on the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge side of the Great Smokey's, but saw just as much if not more natural splendor. Listed below are a few activities;
Ghost town in the sky; (theme park on top of mountian, very cool)
Cataloochee Ski area (should be open during Thanksgiving)
Blue Ridge Parkway (Breathtaking)
Horseback riding
Golfing
Dinner Shows
Gem Mining
Great Smoky Mountains National Park (A must see; go to cataloochee valley, hard to find, but worth it!)
Fishing
Whitewater rafting
The Biltmore estate (also a must see)
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad
Unto These Hills (outdoor performance about the cherokee indians)
Cherokee Indian Village (Not like it used to be, becoming more and more commercial)
Question: I'm writing a story called Traveling Family. Vacation Ideas?

Question: Looking at traveling for a 10 year anniversary family vacation to Australia or Hawaii? Which is better?
We are looking at going on vacation in 2010 to Hawaii or to Austrailia for our 10 year anniversary. Which would be the best in you opinions, and what would be the difference in cost? What would be the most affordable, do you know of any good vacation packages, travel agents, etc? It would be really helpful to start paying payments, so we need a travel agent who would let us do that, plus who knows of cool activities. Can anyone shed some light?
Answer: The location would depend on what you want to do? Look at the perks of both. Do you want to go to Sydney and experience life Down Under? Australia seems more "adventurous". If you are from America, do you want to the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, the particularly lovely dream tropical vacation place of Americans, it seems more "tropical paradise".
The most affordable from America would probably be Hawaii, but you may be able to find a good deal over the next two years to go to hawaii.
It also depends on how long you will be staying. You dont want to spend half of your vacation on the plane! So consider where you are departing from.
Congrats on your anniversary and whichever one you choose, I hope it is a grand vacation!
Visit the websites if you have time. This may offer you some light too.
Question: I'm going on vacation with my family and I need some good travel food. (We're driving) Any ideas?
Answer: beef jurkey, trail mix, nuts, dried fruit, candy (hardy candy is good to suck on if you get car sick), chips, cookies, fig newtons, etc.
If you have room for a cooler; pack some sandwhiches or stuff to make sandwhiches with, drinks (water, juice, ice tea, soda), apples, oranges, bananas, carrot sticks.
Question: Which destination is better for a family vacation?
I am looking for a family vacation destination. I am planning on traveling in May 2009. The choices I have are Wisconsin Dells, WI, Hershey, PA, Great Lakes, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Edisto Island, SC. I want to go somewhere that my 4 year old son, my husband, me and my mother-in-law would like. Any suggestions or advice on where to go? Anyone been to any of these and what are some experiences you have had? Thanks in advance for any help.
Answer: A four year old would be happy if you booked a room in your local big-name hotel -- between the pool, room service, and jumping on the beds, he'd be in heaven. So anywhere the adults are willing to go, the kid should be happy. Except maybe Hershey. He won't remember it and will love to go there in his teens.
I'd say Myrtle Beach has tons for the adults and good stuff for the child. Don't miss the aquarium.
