Question: Is there a penalty fee for cancellation if I booked a yahoo travel vacation package?
Please help...emergency can't make it....

Answer: Although you used Yahoo to find the vacation package, it is just a search engine, you actually book your holiday through a travel company. You need to examine the terms and conditions on the website of the actual company you used. If your purchased travel insurance as well as booking the vacation you will be covered for any penalty payments you incur with the travel company.
I think that, after reading the travel company terms and conditions, you should contact them ASAP and cancel the vacation. The sooner you do it the better. Also, if you have travel insurance, contact the insurance company.

Question: Can anybody out there give me personal feedback and info on online travel vacation packages?
I am planning on taking a trip to New York City in May and have been looking around to the sites such as Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, but wanted to get some real feedback and advice on what to do or what not to do, that sort of thing? Is it easier than using a local travel agency, is it easy in general? thanks for the responses.

Answer: Go to http://www.firstworldclasstravel.com
It's cheap and I had no problem going to New York
Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia are to expensive

Answer: Yes, fuel and labor cost effect the total cost of travel packages

Question: Best way to purchase disney vacation package? Online? Travel agent? Call the airlines?
I want to take my 2 children to Disney for labor day weekend, Any ideas on the best or cheapest way to plan the trip? Disney's website has me spending around 2 grand with hotel, and airline+ park tix

Answer: To be honest, the Disney website itself is great with prices if you do a magic your way package. Choose your hotel, tickets (get the park hopper) and the dining plan. Definitely ask for the magical express transportation to and from the airport.

Get your airline tickets separately. I got mine on Air Tran and they were incredibly cheap. You can go with orbitz, travelocity, cheaptickets, etc. but remember that they charge a small fee in there. For example, my Air Tran flight on the Air Tran website was $99/person. On the other websites, that same flight was $105. They are charging you more because you are paying for the convenience for them to search many airlines. Use them to search, but when you find a flight go to that airlines website, and see how much that flight is from the website, often times it is cheaper

Since you are staying on property you don't need to rent a car because Disney provides transportation to all the hotels, parks and the airport. If you need to go to Universal Studios, Sea World, or somewhere off property use Mears Transportation services. You call them 24 hours before you need the service and they will provide roundtrip service. 407-423-5566

Because it is Disney, you will spend around 2 grand, but if you get the dining plan (which I believe is free for trips through Sept 22) you will save tons of money because you will not have to pay for lunch and dinner.

To utilize your plan properly and get the most out of eat. Use the counter service meal for lunch, the table for dinner (try and go with the more expensive restaurants) and if you can use the snacks to buy cereal and milk in the morning or a snack during the day.

In your luggage, pack a 24 pack of water and bring the bottles to the park. Water in Disney costs around $4, so if you bring a bottle per person you can fill it up at water fountains. Plus you can use the empty suitcase at the end of the trip to bring home souvenirs.

Get the Disney Credit card for your trip and your trip only. You get 0% apr for the next 6 months, so you can pay off your trip in 6 months with no fees! Also you get Disney Reward points. You can then trade these in for Disney reward Dollars, which is basically a gift card that you can use in Disney. This means that your trip just gave you money for souvenirs and other stuff to use in the park.

One more tip. Start saving your change. Use this as the souvenir fund or another fund that you will need money for. You will be surprised how fast your change adds up. We have been saving since March and we have $80 and we almost never use cash!

Question: Where can i find good travel vacation packages to the carribeans or any other nice vacation island?

Answer: I would highly recommend www.cheapcaribbean.com they have great customer service and a knowledgeable staff!

Question: Is a Timeshare (resale) purchase a good amenity or is it better to buy travel vacation packages?

Answer: Timeshare is definitely for people with NO FINANCIAL problems and when doing it for the RIGHT reasons and under the RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES it can be a GOOD THING.

BIG "NO,NOS" IN TIMESHARE:

*If you normally spend less than $100 USD a night for accommodations then timeshare is NOT FOR YOU
*It is not a financial investment
*Don´t buy if you plan to rent it
*Don´t buy if you plan on reselling
*Don´t buy if you plan on exchanging often
*Make sure you can afford to travel at least one week a year
*NEVER BUY FROM THE DEVELOPER

THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES:

*This system makes vacation home ownership possible for many people who cannot afford a second home or who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such resort facilities. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays, in family time together, and when viewed that way it can be a good investment indeed.
*Get it in an area the you LOVE and that you would visit every year without a problem
*Get it in a very nice Resort (where normally people would pay at least $200 a night)
*Get it in the resale market (it would cost you less than $1000 USD) so all what you have to spend is the maintenance fee.

HERE ARE THE NUMBERS:

$200 USD a night (in a decent resort) x 6 nights = $1200 USD

Maintenance fee in a NICE RESORT x 6 nights = $700
*Maintenance is a "decent resort" x 6 nights = $400

You do your numbers.

Question: What is a good travel website with vacation packages to Argentina and/or Brazil?
I know (and love) gotoday.com, and also found the TAM vacations website, which looks great. I just wanted to have more options to choose from for a winter vacation to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and/or Iguassu Falls. This is for a 30-th anniversary present for my parents, and while I would love to get them a package with all three, funds are limited. Any help is much appreciated!

Answer: Try Gol airlines web pages (www.voegol.com) or Aerolojeas Argentinas web pages. I usually check LanChile's web page for fabulous packages (www.lan.com). Lan is usually a bit more expensive but when they have special packages and deals no one can beat their prices. I have always flown to Rio and Buenos Aires in Lan.

Question: What is the best vacation package available for looking at lighthouses in Maine ?
Looking for a travel package to see some lighthouses along the East Coast,in Maine preferably.Bed and Breakfast, log cabin inns or something very romantic.Possibly this will be a honeymoon trip ! She is very much into lighthouses and this would be a great trip for both of us since neither has seen much of the East Coast. Thanks

Answer: Pick up a map of the Maine coastline. Rent an auto and drive the shoreline as close as possible to the ocean. The lighthouses are on most maps. Be sure to visit Lighthouse Depot in Wells, Maine. We used Orbitz for motels. We have been to 156 lighthouses nationwide, Michigan has the most colorfull ones, good luck and happy climbing the steps, the views are great.

Question: The best site for discount vacation travel?
I need to book a vacation package to Hawaii. Does anyone know of the best or cheapest websites for discount travel, except for Travelocity, Orbitz, and Expedia. Please let me know from your experience which is best, even if it is among the 3 that I just mentioned. But I'm really looking for one of those sites or companies that people rarely know about (if it exists). Thanks!

Answer: PleasantHolidays.com and suntrips.com are the ones I always find the best deals.

Question: What is the best travel website for vacation packages to Las Vegas?

Answer: Contrary to what most travel websites will tell you, you probably WONT save by combining air with hotel. You CAN save this way, but I've had better experience shopping around for airfare. In the west, Southwest and America West are dirt cheap usually. I've also found that picking lesser known hotels can be good too. For example Alexis Park is one of the most affordable (and luxurious...well, not Belagio luxurious, but still they have suites) that I've found in Vegas. Didn't even know it was there until I went there for a convetion.
